The mutilated, bisected, nude corpse of a woman later to be identified as Elizabeth Short, was discovered the Leimert Park district of Los Angeles. Her body was left on display in gruesome fashion at the west side of South Norton Avenue midway between Coliseum Street and West 39th Street. Posthumously dubbed The Black Dahlia by the press, her murder remains unsolved and to this day, fascinating.
